Types of Yarn

Types of Yarn

Did you know there are over 20 different types of yarn? Yes I know right?! Fascinating! In this blog post we are going to go over the top 2 most commonly used types of yarn and what projects they are mostly used for.

Firstly, we have the queen of yarn; wool. Wool is made from animal fur and mainly used for creating winter garments such as the sweaters that your grandmother knits for you, scarves, warm socks, etc. There are many different types of wool available and some include merino wool, virgin wool, Shetland wool, and washable wool.

Secondly, we have synthetic wool. This wool is now the most commonly found simply because it is the most resilient of wool as it can be washed and is the most ethical, i.e . does not use animal product. Synthetic wool can be used to make just about anything you can imagine such as tote bags, tops, etc. There are several different types of synthetic wool such as acrylic, polyester, and nylon.
